Chitin

Chitin is a substance that elevates our insect droppings above other fertilizers. Edible insects use the fibrous material Chitin to create the structure of their exoskeletons. Chitin can be found in the exoskeleton of insects, crustacean shells and even in the wings of butterfly scales. Various modified versions of chitin are used throughout the insect world, which make it possible, for example, to have a strong exoskeleton of a beetle and can also be used to create flexible bodies visible in caterpillars. We mix the remains of exoskeletons of flour gut (undresses), which contain the mentioned chitin, into our insect droppings. It helps plants defend themselves against pests and pathogens. From experience we can confirm that it protects plants from aphids and moths.

Chitin is a 100% natural biopesticide. Chitin is known to destroy root-feeding nematodes and their eggs, as well as fungal pathogens in the root zone. As soon as the plants detect chitin in the soil, they react as if they have „eaten insects“. This causes the plant to be protected by producing more stem and leaf material and excreting secondary metabolites to repel pests and pathogens. This means that chitin produces an autoimmune response that acts on plants as a vaccine. It signals the plant to produce natural toxins that will repel its enemy, such as pests and fungal pathogens. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency states that chitin appears to regulate pathogenic nematodes by stimulating the growth of certain naturally occurring microorganisms in the soil, which in turn releases substances that destroy pathogenic nematodes and their eggs.
